Wheeling
Park
Where Wheeling Gathers
Almost a century ago, in 1925, the Wheeling community celebrated the opening of Wheeling Park — funded by the community, for the community. Today, the park remains our city’s gathering space, a treasured location to visit, play, and celebrate. And now the community is once again coming together to fund renovations and upgrades that will ensure our park’s vitality for decades to come.
Wheeling Park Projects
J.B. Chambers Memorial Ice Rink at WHEELING PARK
Originally built in 1959, the ice rink has been a favorite spot for generations of Wheeling-area kids and adults to play hockey, learn to skate, and have fun.
Schwertfeger Shelter
Park shelters provide important community gathering and entertaining spaces. Upgrading the 75-year-old Schwertfeger Shelter is one way we are revitalizing Wheeling Park for the entire community.
Splash Pad / Sprayground
A modern splash pad and sprayground will encourage children to be physically active while having warm-weather fun in the outdoor pool area.
Stifel Playground
Construction of the largest inclusive playground in West Virginia will be completed by Memorial Day with your support.
Bandshell and Outdoor Cinema
A new bandshell and outdoor cinema will allow Wheeling Park to feature larger arts, cultural, and heritage events, including during Funfest Fridays.
