Greenhouse Aquaponics

To effect the “farm” element of the farm-to-table initiative at park restaurants, Oglebay will partner with local non-profit partners. Over the past several years, locally sourced food products have grown in populaity and availability in the Wheeling area, including produce at the Public Market in downtown.

Produce will be grown by aquaponics in two historic but currently unused Oglebay greenhouses for production of food to be served in the Wilson Lodge restaurants. The greenhouses will feature an aquaponics system that combines aquaculture — raising aquatic animals in water tanks — with hydroponics — raising plants in water.
